I had a video visit with my family on Sunday night and my daughter Sadie said, “Hey Mom, how come you don’t ever do blog posts about your kids?” I thought that was a great idea! So I’m going to do my regular post, then do a post about a member of my family later in the week. This week is all about Mercedes, or Sadie as she is better known by us. I’ve shared this before but Sadie is strong, dynamic, smart, beautiful, talented, and we can now add tall to that list, she is 5 foot 7 inches and still growing at age 13. Sadie is as lovely as a young girl could be, of course I’m a little biased because I’m her mother:) Even at a young age she had a way with people. Her life has been filled with health issues, legal problems and surrounded by uncertainty, yet she’s found a way to shine through it all. When Sadie was about 9 years old I went to Maine to work with an attorney and a tax accountant on my real estate deals. Some of my attorneys family members were vacationing near by so they invited Sadie and Jackson to spend the week with their children while we worked. One night as we were all discussing my legal case Sadie came up to the group, stood in the middle of the adults and said, “Excuse me, haven’t you guys talked enough? Could the world please revolve around me for a while?” The adults were all so taken with her that the conversation stopped and the world did revolve around her and the kids for the rest of the night.
I decided that I wanted to share some of the letters Sadie has written me to give you a better idea what this sassy young ladies is like.
Hey Mom,
I hope your doing well. I think about you all the time!!! You need to get home soon, I miss you so much, I need my mom! Life is really hard right now, but I know the hard things make us stronger. I want to know how you’re doing. It’s kind of weird but sometimes I look at the sky and think that somehow we’re communicating. weird I know, but I do think that a lot. I love you soooo much and wish you were home. I hope you can come home soon, you probably do too. Well, I’m going to try to write you a lot. This is Sadie by the way:) I really miss you, my friends miss you too, and like Dad really misses you! He seems stressed out sometimes:( This is fun, I feel like I’m talking to you, it’s kinda weird how your going to be reading this in a few days and I’m writing it now. Jackson is the biggest bratt ever!!!!!!!He always teases me that you love him more because you would always buy him stuff, but what ya gunna do? It makes me feel bad when he does stuff like that. CJ wants to be just like me:) And……..well that’s the story. I love you more than words can explain
Love Sadie
Could she be any cuter? Dublin kept all my mail and mothers day cards for the last month that I was there, but Sadie sent this letter for Mothers day in 2015.
Happy Mothers day mom.
I love you SO much, I can’t wait to see you again! Me and Shelby want to come see you over the summer, I think that would be so much fun! I miss you like crazy, but then I just think about this girl in my class that her dad died of cancer. Things will get better for us, I know they will! We have so much support from family, friends, and our Heavenly Father. I love you! Just know that we will be together again, and that God has a plan for us and this must be apart of it. Probably because we’re strong!
Love you so much mom
Sadie also sent me a note when I left Utah to go to Dublin from both herself and her friends. I’m going to close with those letters because they mean a lot to me:)
Dear Portia,
Thank you so much for everything! We all love you so much, we all respect you deeply! Thank you for always being so kind hearted, and always having an open mind. Thank you for taking us places, you are so fun to be with. I hope you know that none of us think of you any differently. Thank you so much for raising Sadie, your daughter is an amazing person. We love you so much!!
With Love, Victoria, Chloe, Bailey, Emma, Lexi, Ellie, and Hannah

Mom
I remember when we used to go to Lagoon every summer and you would always go on all the rides with the kids because dad’s such a wimp! I’m going to miss you, but things could always be worse. It will be a change, but nothing I can’t handle. Thanks for being my mom, I love you and know you will be blessing other peoples lives. I wish you didn’t have to go, but I know you will be strong and make a difference where you are.
I hope you think of me when you read this
Love Sadie
I think of you every day Sadie Girl. My heart aches to hold you close! The last time you came to Dublin to see me right before they put me in the SHU you sat on my lap and let me rock you, it was a precious moment I won’t ever forget. Your strong and amazing in every way, but you’re still my little girl and I miss you more than my heart can bare sometimes. I fight each day to be the best person I can be so maybe in some way I can be a good influence on you and your brothers and sisters. Thank you for being such an inspiration to me. I look forward to a day ahead that we will be together
Love Mom
